A Change For The Better
When my husband and I first met he was already a whole food enthusiast. He shopped at a weekly farmers market, exercised at least 3-4 times
weekly, and took care of his pets the same healthy way. I was a healthy, able-bodied person but did not have the discipline and commitment that
my husband possesses. My "cheat days" often turned into an entire week and taking my dog to the dog park counted as exercise for both of us.
I consumed food that was labeled as "nutritious" and "fortified" and I thought I knew all about good nutrition but my husband would raise
my awareness so much more. He didn't stop there though. My husband introduced me to Pat McKay and how I care for my pets and
especially what I feed my pets would change forever.
I fed my dog, Champ, a "premium" dry dog food. It stated "made with real chicken" right on the bag. I had no idea that my dog was
suffering in silence. He would happily eat whatever I gave him because he trusted me to give him what he needed. He trusted that I
was not harming him with my decisions. I failed this beloved dog.
My new dedication to learning about real nutrition and implementing this knowledge into how I ate and what I fed my dog allowed me
to spend many more years with my beloved Champ. Good nutrition is actually quite simple. We can all do better. For ourselves. For our pets.
